Cyborgification & paralympics - Biomechanical analyses in Paralympic sprinting and jumping disciplines

Arts et Métiers 155 Boulevard de l'Hôpital 75013 Paris Bézier Amphitheater

The Sixth OpenYourMind presentation of the semester is scheduled for this Friday November 19 at 1.30 pm and will be held in Bezier Amphitheater (ENSAM). We look forward to hosting Potthast, WOLFGANG, Head of Clinical and Technological Biomechanics at the Institute of Biomechanics and Orthopaedics (official twitter account). He is going to discuss the ongoing debate, of whether athletes using technical aids due to physical impairments should be allowed to compete with athletes without impairment and prosthetic aids. He is going to share some of the results of the biomechanical analyses he has been conducting in that context as well as the investigation of performance limiting factors – here in particular the exchange of mechanical energy – and how these can help to understand movement mechanisms and therefore support decision makers in governing bodies.
