« Medical and scientific integrity in the time of COVID-19 » by Nathan Peiffer-Smadja, M.D. at 6 pm

Dr Nathan Peiffer-Smadja is a consultant (Chef de Clinique des universités – Assistant des hôpitaux) in Infectious Diseases in Bichat Claude Bernard Hospital and he is doing a PhD on the evaluation and implementation of clinical decision support systems for antimicrobial prescribing. He has been involved in the care of patients with COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic and in multiple research projets on COVID-19 history and therapeutics. He is an investigator of Solidarity, the international WHO clinical trial for the evaluation of COVID-19 treatments and a member of the steering committee of DisCoVeRy, the European add-on trial of Solidarity. He has been vocal in the media about the necessity to respect scientific methods and rigour when evaluating drugs even for a new and pandemic diseaseenMedical and scientific integritation of the cursus.

« Nepotistic journals’: a survey of biomedical journals » by Clara Locher, Pharm.D., Ph.D. at 7 pm

Dr Clara Locher is an assistant professor (Praticien Hospitalier Universitaire) in clinical pharmacology in Rennes Hospital University. She serves as a methodologist on various grant applications and teaches medical students and Public Health master’s students in several areas: pharmacology, methodology of clinical trials, and information science. Her research interests are (i) quality, transparency and reproducibility of trials studying targeted therapy in oncology and (ii) integrity in scientific publishing.
