Seminar announcement flyer

We are pleased to announce that this week’s OpenYourMind seminar will be given by Isabelle BLOCH, Professor at the LTCI (Laboratoire de Traitement et Communication de l’Informartion), Télécom ParisTech, Université Paris-Saclay, Paris, France. The seminar will be held this Friday, 2/03/2018 between 1:30 pm and 3 pm in Amphi Bezier at ENSAM ParisTech (151, Boulevard de l’Hopital, 75013 Paris). The seminar topic will be “Knowledge representation for image understanding”.

Next week’s OpenYourMind seminar will be given by Zsolt LENKEI, MD-PhD, head of the Neuronal Structure and Dynamics team, Brain Plasticity Unit, CNRS/ESPCI ParisTech. The seminar topic will be “Development of new brain imaging modalities in animal models to better understand human neuropsychiatric pathologies”.

Using knowledge to guide the analysis and interpretation of images is of prime importance in particular in the case of structured scenes. In particular structural information such as spatial relations between objects in the scene is often more stable than characteristics of the object themselves, and is then very helpful for recognition and understanding purposes. Such knowledge is often provided in a qualitative or symbolic form. Fuzzy sets allow modeling it in a suitable way to bridge the semantic gap and establish links between abstract models such as ontologies and image information. Models based on fuzzy sets and mathematical morphology will be presented. These models can then be introduced in spatial reasoning schemes. Illustrations in medical image understanding will be presented.
