BME Seminars - Stephane BORDAS

Seminar announcement flyer

We are pleased to announce that our next OpenYourMind seminar will be given by Stéphane BORDAS, Professor in Computational Mechanics, Institute of computational engineering, University of Luxembourg and Editor of the series « Advances in Applied Mechanics ». The seminar will be held this Friday, 19/01/2018 between 1:30 pm and 3 pm in Amphi Fournel at ENSAM ParisTech (151, Boulevard de l’Hopital, 75013 Paris). The seminar topic will be “Computational Sciences and the Transition to Data-Driven Modelling and Simulation”.

To have an insight into the key issues that will be presented during the talk tomorrow, do not hesitate to have a look at the following presentation : http://orbilu.uni.lu/handle/10993/34088

Abstract

I will present recent advances in error-controlled modelling and simulation for free boundary problems in engineering and medical simulations. I will discuss the importance of controlling the various error sources: from boundary conditions to model errors, through discretisation errors and provide some first results on real-time error estimation for surgical simulations. I will conclude on the need for research in data-driven model form error estimation and model selection.
