BME Seminars - Vittorio SANSALONE

Seminar announcement flyer

This week’s OpenYourMind seminar will be given by Vittorio SANSALONE, Associate Professor in the biomechanics team of the Laboratoire Modélisation et Simulation Multi Echelle (MSME UMR 8208 CNRS) and coordinator of the scientific theme “Biomaterials” of the CNRS international laboratory (LIA) Coss&Vita. The seminar will be held this Friday, 14/10/2016 between 1:30 pm and 3 pm in Amphi Fournel at ENSAM ParisTech (151, Boulevard de l’Hopital, 75013 Paris). The seminar topic will be “Image-based multiscale modeling and simulation in bone biomechanics”.

Vittorio Sansalone’s research activities focus on bone biomechanics, aiming at elucidating the relationships existing between cell environment, microstructure and mechanical properties of bone using theoretical modelling and numerical simulations. The lecture will outline some recent advances in image-based modeling and simulation and discuss the opportunities and challenges offered by multiscale approaches to describe bone mechanical properties. A special emphasis will be put on the issue of uncertainty quantification in multiscale modeling, drawing lessons from statistics and probability to take into account uncertainty in experimental data.
