Seminar announcement flyer

Our first "Open Your Mind" seminar is scheduled for Friday, October 2nd 2015 and will take place at Arts et Métiers ParisTech (151 boulevard de l’Hôpital, 75013 Paris) in lecture theatre Fournel between 1:30 pm and 3 pm. For this first conference, a lecture on " Subject-specific musculoskeletal modelling: From basic research to clinical routine " will be given by Prof Wafa SKALLI, Scientific Director of the Institut de Biomécanique  Humaine Georges Charpak.

Wafa Skalli is a mechanical engineer, graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers (ENSAM) in 1980. She received her Ph.D. degree in biomechanics in 1983 and she is presently Professor at Arts et Métiers ParisTech. Her research is oriented towards geometric and mechanical modeling of the musculoskeletal system with the aim of better understanding the mechanisms of degradation, to improve restoration devices, to provide quantitative tools for clinical help in diagnosis, and for the follow up or surgery planning. She and her team  work in close collaboration with clinical teams and industrial partners. Wafa Skalli is  co-inventor of the EOS system, and has been named free (non surgeon) member by the Académie Nationale de Chirurgie. Her lecture will deal with translational research in biomechanics, with a focus on geometric and mechanical modeling of the spine.
